The National Junior Honor Society was founded in 1929 to recognize and encourage academic achievement, as well as to uphold the ideals of scholarship, character, service, citizenship, and leadership.Charles Allen, principal and president of the NHS/NJHS National Council wrote in 1945, “If education fails to develop a good citizen, then all has been lost. If the student does not discover through his studies and experiences that unless he can give more to society than he has taken from society, then his schooling has failed…” The ECMS NJHS includes students who maintain a 95 average throughout the school year and uphold the ideals above.
